  • The new facility replaces the Alcochete centre and reinforces NACEX’s sorting capacity, exceeding 6,500 shipments per hour, and improving the service offered in the Lisbon area.
  • The institutional inauguration was attended by local authorities such as the mayor of Montijo, “El Exmo.” Senhor Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Montijo, Dr Fernando Caria, as well as NACEX and Logista executives, and franchisees from the area.

NACEX, Logista’s express parcel and document delivery company, has opened a new hub in Montijo. Through this initiative, the company responds to the sustained growth of its network in the area and the need to adapt its capacity to this trend. The opening ceremony was attended by “El Exmo.” Senhor Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Montijo, Dr Fernando Caria, as well as directors of NACEX and Logista, and franchisees from the area.

The new facility has been active since May the 8th, replacing the previous Alcochete centre, and was designed to strengthen NACEX Portugal’s operational muscle and support the development of its franchise network, contributing to offer its customers an even more efficient and effective service in the Lisbon area, in line with the company’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

The Montijo hub has a 3,300 m2 warehouse and a 1,000 m2 office building, equipped with state-of-the-art classification and traceability technology. These improvements increase production capacity by approximately 2,000 shipments per hour when compared to the previous system, exceeding 6,500 shipments/hour and improving the current sorting capacity by more than 60 per cent.

The new facility has doubled its loading and unloading capacity from 21 to 43 docks.

“Montijo’s new hub responds to the sustained growth of our business in Portugal and strengthens our ability to continue to offer an increasingly efficient and effective service. This investment reflects our commitment to the continuous improvement and development of our network, accompanying our customers in an increasingly demanding environment,” explained João Jales, NACEX Portugal Country Manager, at the opening ceremony.

In the words of “El Exmo.” Senhor Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Montijo, Dr Fernando Caria, “It is highly satisfying for the Municipality of Montijo to welcome this new NACEX hub, a leading company in the courier sector.

Montijo City Council, we will continue working to offer the best conditions to companies that decide to invest and grow in our municipality. We want to be a close and committed partner to all those who invest in Montijo as a destination to develop their projects, generating opportunities and value for our community.

We wish NACEX every success in this new phase and reiterate our complete readiness to collaborate in the development of initiatives that contribute to the economic and social progress of our municipality.”

In line with NACEX’s sustainability strategy, set out in its 2025 Sustainability Report, Montijo’s new hub has been designed according to the highest standards of quality and energy efficiency, as demonstrated by the award of the BREEAM Very Good certification. Accordingly, the installation includes, among other measures, 100% LED lighting, electric-vehicle chargers, and high-performance handling, management, and classification systems.

In addition to the speeches by “El Exmo,” Senhor Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Montijo, Dr Fernando Caria, and João Jales, NACEX Portugal Country Manager, the inauguration included a guided tour during which attendees could discover the features of the facilities and how they work.
