Logista Pharma strengthens its European expansion with a new Prologis platform in Catalonia

calendar March 18, 2026
  • The facility, known as Subirats DC1, is acquired as a key element for Logista Pharma’s development in the region, thanks to its strategic location for the pharmaceutical supply chain.
  • The site covers more than 23,400 square meters, making it the largest pharmaceutical distribution platform operated by a logistics provider in Catalonia.

Logista Pharma, a Logista subsidiary specialised in distribution to all pharmaceutical channels in Spain, Portugal and Italy, will operate from a new logistics platform in Catalonia to serve as a key distribution hub for its expansion into other European countries. The new platform, named Subirats DC1, is owned by Prologis Inc., the world’s leading manager of logistics real estate, and is located in the strategic area of Subirats (Barcelona).

The operation marks the first collaboration between the two companies in Spain and represents the launch of the largest pharmaceutical logistics platform in Catalonia operated by a logistics provider, with a total surface area of 23,416 square meters.

The warehouse meets the specific needs of Logista Pharma, a company specialised in integrated logistics solutions for healthcare and pharmaceutical products requiring different temperature conditions and the highest standards of quality and safety, fully complying with GMP and GDP regulations.

Subirats DC1 has storage capacity for 50,000 pallets and includes a high‑security APQ area, as well as a partial manufacturing zone dedicated to secondary packaging activities. The facility has undergone specific fit‑out works by Prologis Essentials, which has played a key role from the design phase through to the delivery of the ready‑to‑use installation. The implemented solution includes climate‑control systems for temperature‑controlled storage areas (15–25 °C), a positive cold chamber (2–8 °C), VNA-compatible racking systems, a highly automated picking area, high‑security (APQ) zones, and dedicated spaces for secondary packaging activities, as well as the design and build‑out of office areas.

The building also features energy‑efficient and sustainability‑oriented solutions, such as high‑efficiency LED lighting and systems designed to improve operational performance and reduce environmental impact, in line with the sustainability commitments of both Logista and Prologis. It is worth noting that the availability of platforms capable of supporting energy, automation and thermal‑control requirements is becoming a key location factor in today’s logistics market, especially in regulated sectors such as pharmaceuticals.

Logista Pharma has chosen to strengthen its operations in Catalonia as a strategic hub to expand our footprint in Europe. The Subirats DC1 building fully meets the high operational requirements of the pharmaceutical sector. The asset’s quality and the solutions implemented allow us to optimise our logistics operations and ensure a safe, efficient and reliable service for our customers. In addition, its strategic location enhances our distribution network towards European countries such as France, the Netherlands and Belgium, supporting our growth objectives”, said Ignacio Sánchez Caballero, General Manager of Logista Pharma Iberia.

This operation reflects our ability to support companies in the pharmaceutical sector with logistics solutions tailored to the highest operational standards. Subirats DC1 is an example of how we combine high‑quality assets, services through Prologis Essentials, and a long‑term approach focused on generating value for our customers”, added Cristian Oller, SVP, Head of Asset Management for Southern Europe at Prologis.

Catalonia, a logistics hub in Southern Europe

The logistics market in Catalonia continues to show solid demand, especially for modern, well‑located assets capable of meeting the needs of high‑value sectors such as pharmaceuticals. In a context of limited land availability and high operational requirements, assets like Subirats DC1 reinforce Catalonia’s position as one of the leading logistics hubs in Southern Europe and highlight the resilience of the logistics sector.

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the most demanding and fastest-growing segments within the logistics market, driven by rising healthcare consumption, the need for traceability and increasingly stringent regulatory standards. This trend is generating growing demand for highly specialised logistics platforms with advanced technical and operational control requirements
